I'm honestly surprised that Acura caved in finally. They've been asked for years about reviving the Integra, someone must have got sick of it lol

Acura said a few years back that they are revamping their priorities and getting back to their sports roots. So this launch was inevitable as the Integra was their most loved (practical) sports car that people actually owned.
Just in time to give my 2002 RSX (that I got new when we got married) to my daughter. I'll be one of the first in line for the 2022.
While it's obvious that they'll launch the racing-pure type R, hopefully for the older types like me (other family car is a hybrid Advance MDX), they'll build an Integra Advance version with practicality and creature comforts that are missing from the NSX like ACC, back seat, and a roomy hatch/trunk. A sport-tuned hybrid would be a nice touch too.

FINALLY!!!!!!! I will be all over this if it is a two door. I will retain my 2005 Type S I could never part with it.
I had a 1998 ITR, it was the most amazing car I have ever owned and I have owned enough to know. I so miss that car.
But the RSX does the job nicely as well with some mods.
I too am surprised Acura finally caved, supposedly it is has been in the works for 6 years.

you may never know, they actually use the integra nameplate instead of rsx

I'm trying to figure out if I can fit another car because I'm trying not to sell any of my other cars. Didn't know they were working on it for that long. So what would the replacement entry level sedan be that was shown in their presentation?

I'm so excited for this car, but have zero interest in owning one. I hate the tech that's regulated into modern cars, so I'm sticking to my plans of completely overhauling my aging RSX. Most people lock themselves into car payments, while if I felt like doing that, I'd rather take out a personal loan to build an older car.
My thoughts on the new Integra:
1) It better be a two-door, although an accompanying sedan would be acceptable since it was a thing in previous generations. Acura would be ridiculed to no end if a coupe weren't available. I expect this to be based on the Civic, as has been the case before, which then makes me think the Civic coupe will also be returning so that Honda got as much return on that R&D as possible.
2) Acura is to be applauded for using the Integra name when it would have been so easy to just resurrect "RSX" to fit into the brand's naming structure. The whole point of the alphanumeric naming system among manufacturers is to take the focus off of the cars individually, putting it instead on the brand, and the Integra has its own significant heritage; it is not about the brand in this case. But in using the original name, as said in #1, that comes with responsibility on Acura's part.
3) There will likely be no "Type R." Acura seems to have adapted the Type S as an equivalent trim level under their more premium branding, so even if Japan were to get a Honda Integra Type R, I expect it to be badged as an S in North America. "Type R" hardly means what it once did anyway; that being a stripped-out track toy with a focus on reducing weight rather than adding power. Younger, more ignorant enthusiasts who can't afford the car will of course still bitch.
4) People seem worried that it won't have a proper manual. I say there's no way Acura would launch it without one.
5) The renders that were circulating right before the official announcement were by @jrubinsteintowler on Instagram, and as far as I know were not at all commissioned by Acura otherwise they wouldn't have been allowed to be so publicly displayed. The camo "spy shots" are obviously photoshops based on that render.

I absolutely agree concerning the "Tech-Aspect". There is just something more "pure" ( to me ) owning an older Integra or RSX.

I am a " 70's kid " and to get a hi-tech vehicle would simply go against my old-school roots. It would be like me giving up my past to be a Millenial.
Also, the return of the NEW Integra, makes me appreciate my '03 RSX that MUCH MORE.
I liken it to all the brand new Dodge Chargers, Mustangs and Camaros; they look REALLY good, BUT; everybody and there mama's mama has got one.
Happy to see the return of the Integra/RSX, but I will hang onto my '03; a collectible classic that not everyone can just get.

@turner22f I'm even a Millennial (born in '88) and I hate high technology, haha. I feel like I identify far more with gen X.

I've basically modernized my RSX as much as possible...touch screen, car phone, backup camera, retrofits with LED running lights, etc. That kind of thing is what keeps me from buying a new vehicle. If I still enjoy driving the one that I have, and I can give it some modern conveniences, I might as well just hang on to it.
We'll see about this new Integra. I'm setting my expectations low in hopes of being pleasantly surprised.

I hope body lines flow smoothly and have function without going to far for aesthetics like the FK8. A good chassis with a strong motor and suspension is what the recipe calls for. Sport interior with easy touch points and a timeless interior. Simple, basic, and exciting with an affordable price tag. Also having a type r variant so that we aren't spending more on overseas type r parts for those trying to build a type r if we don't get one. It would be nice to even see a real type r dna with the radio and ac delete option. Possibly even power steering like the NA2 R? 🤨

Oh hell nah. If I'm buying a new car and they are charging me $25-30k for a two door hatchback, I want all the tech I can get. Why would you buy a brand new car and want to have it drive like something that is 20 years old?
My wife got a 2019 Civic Sport and its pretty amazing how much tech they give you now for the money. Lane keep assist, adaptive cruise, accident avoidance are a must if you do daily driving and highway driving. Once you try it, its a very nice place to be. Granted, there is still plenty of road noise that reminds you that you're in a Civic but cars have come a long way. Also, if you just want to drive and get the experience, there is nothing stopping you from turning off all the accident avoidance tech.
Honestly, as long as they offer the new Integra as a 6 speed manual and 250+ HP, that's all the driving experience I need.
